The Math of Jesus

They say that numbers don’t lie.  This series explores the numbers and math in Jesus’ stories and parables.  We will cover the basics – addition, subtraction, multiplication, fractions – and study some of the math principles Jesus taught.  It’s a fresh window into the character of Jesus and the values of his kingdom.  Does it add up?  You be the judge!

Part One:  Addition
Jesus can add: 1+1=2; 2+2=4, etc.  But in a story recorded in Matthew 10 he introduces a factor beyond plain addition; one that indicates your enormous value to God.

Part Two:  Subtraction
Sometimes loss becomes gain when Jesus is involved.  Come do the math in a study of John 12 & 15.

Part Three:  Multiplication
Take something given to Jesus and multiply it by his blessing.  What is the result?  In this story from Matthew 15 you’ll see that God is able to wildly multiply what you give to him.

Part Four:  Fractions
In Luke 15 Jesus tells three stories about fractions.  Each provides insight into different kinds of people and their value to God.  Are you one of the 1/100, the 1/10 or the 1/2?  Do you know someone who is?  Come find out!

Part Five:  The Law of the Measuring Cups
Jesus said “With the measure you use it will be measured to you.”  What does this mean and how does it apply to your life?

Part Six:  The Law of Motivation
To Jesus the spirit and motive of the giver factors into the value of the gift.  Come learn tips from Jesus about how to maximize your investments.

Part Seven:  The Law of Risk
Risk, not preservation, counts most in Jesus’ economy: A challenging study of Matthew 25.
